Chris Conklin - Secretary

Vice President, Individual Annuities and Vice President, Asset Management Group Sales - The Standard

Chris Conklin leads the individual annuities line of business with full P&L responsibility at The Standard. Chris previously held leadership positions at Genworth Financial, National Life, Fidelity & Guaranty Life, and the Insurance Insight Group consulting firm. He has 30 years of insurance industry experience. Chris is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Maryland. In his spare time, Chris loves to golf.

Farhad Dadkho

Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer - Riverview Community Bank

Farhad has been in banking for over 7 years and is a Portland State Alumni. He also volunteers with numerous service organizations such as Lions International and Rotary. He enjoys being active by climbing, running, playing soccer (futsal), and as a hobby, he officiates professional soccer (US International Friendlies, Open Cup, NWSL, USL) and NCAA college games. He was fortunate enough to meet his wife at futsal, playing the beautiful game of soccer. He has been married to his partner in crime, Megan, for 5 years and still going strong!

Sean Edwards

Senior Vice President - Credit Products Manager - Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Sean Edwards is a native Oregonian and is active in the Portland community. Sean is currently the Credit Products Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he helps lead a team of credit professionals that focus on banking and credit needs of upper-middle market companies headquartered in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to his current role, Sean worked in various commercial banking roles for Washington Mutual and Bank of the West in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco. Sean is also the Vice-Chair and Treasurer of the Board of Directors at the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and previously was on the boards of CODA, Inc. and the YWCA of Greater Portland. Sean holds a BS in Business Administration with a focus in Finance and a minor in Macro-Economic Policy from Oregon State University. In his spare time, Sean is an avid golfer, cyclist, and craftsman.

LaShanda Friedrich

Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) Research Analyst -
Oregon Health Authority

LaShanda N. Friedrich, MPH, is a research analyst at Oregon Health Authority, where she has been employed since August 2011. Since arriving at OHA, she has written numerous reports on health disparities across the state, positive youth development approaches, and an informational brief for best practices for clinicians. She has presented her research at conferences around the country. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina State University and she holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she focused her research in culturally-informed health curricula. LaShanda resides with her husband Dominic and Persian cat, Gabrielle, in Portland. In her free time, she enjoys kickboxing, spinning classes, Pilates and reading books on finance or American history.

Marina Martinez-Bateman

Development Manager - Open Signal

Marina Martinez-Bateman is currently the Development Manager at Open Signal, Portland's community media center, where they manage individual and corporate giving with the goal of creating access to media education and equipment for marginalized communities. Before that, Marina owned their own marketing company specializing in mid-sized non-profits, unions and social ventures. They are known for their commitment to transparency and equity in the workplace, and they have nearly 20 years experience in public speaking on this and other topics throughout Arizona, California and Oregon. Marina holds a bachelor's degree in English from Chapman University, and has received multiple national awards for PR and Communications. They live in Rockwood with their husband, two rescue dogs and a rescue cat. In their spare time, they enjoy writing, reading, and being the Best Operating Officer of the Hawthorne Ghost Tour.

Don Rugg - Treasurer

Chief Financial Officer - Singleton Group

Don is Chief Financial Officer for the Singleton Group, a single family office. His responsibilities include: investment management, estate planning, charitable giving, income taxes, risk management, and financial statement preparation and analysis. He is a CPA and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER. Don received a B.S. degree in Business from Indiana University and a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. He is an active volunteer classroom presenter for Financial Beginnings. Don lives with his wife Julie in Bend, Oregon where in their spare time they enjoy skiing and hiking.

Joey Running

Business Teacher, Career Center Coordinator, College Now Liaison - West Albany High School

Joey Running is a 25-year veteran high school business educator also teaching business at the community college level. She has a strong sense of community and is passionate about Personal Finance and outreach in the State of Oregon. Joey was recently recognized for those outreach efforts at the 2017 Financial Beginnings Oregon Conference as this year's Local Impact Educator Award recipient. Mrs. Running is a Certified Personal and Family Finance Educator (AAFCS) and recently completed the AICPA--Accounting Pilot & Bridge Project. She was a Next Gen Personal Finance Summer Institute Fellow program participant and was recognized in the National Jump$tart's Teacher Spotlight. Joey has been a member of OBEA, WBEA, and NBEA and has presented sessions pertaining to Personal Finance curriculum at the local level, assisting Fin Camp Oregon hosted by NGPF, and co-presented the Implementing NGPF for other educators at the inaugural NGPF Summit in San Francisco. Mrs. Running believes in this formula... personal foundations + behavioral economics + "real world" reinforcement = financial literacy success.

Amy Theuma - Chair

Senior Vice President - Small Business Credit & Underwriting Director - U.S. Bank

Amy has been in her current role overseeing Small Business credit and underwriting for U.S. Bank since September 2016. Prior to this, she spent three years as Chief Administrative Officer for Community Banking and Branch Delivery. She's spent the majority of her 20-year career in both consumer and wholesale banking where she's gained notable experience in commercial lending, facilitating collaboration and change management. Amy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance & Management from the University of Oregon and is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School. She has also served on the board of directors for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest from 2010-2016. Amy resides in Portland with her family and in her spare time enjoys gardening, reading, and occasionally golfing.
